We’re just under a month from the submission deadline for proposals to the Society for Linguistic Anthropology’s 2025 Conference: Imagination, Creation, Critique. As you work to prepare your proposals, I’m excited to share some resources and updates on behalf of the SLA Conference’s Program Committee.
Consider submitting a Poster Plenary PresentationShowcase your research synchronously during our plenary Research Salon and asynchronously by displaying your poster throughout the meeting. The Research Salon will include refreshments and be scheduled as a marquee event, without competing concurrent sessions. The 2025 SLA Conference will have significantly less space for panels than in past years, but beyond the logistical advantage of proposing a poster, the medium offers opportunities to play with modalities that other session types do not! Among other advantages, poster presentations can creatively use nonlinear presentational formats, multimedia, and three-dimensional elements using URLs or QR codes. Learn more about all our session types and submission components here.
Program Committee Office Hours: If you have questions, concerns, or points of clarification, or if you would like to discuss your idea with Program Committee members, we will hold an “Office Hours” event for you to chat with us synchronously. The meeting will happen on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 4 pm EST. You can sign up here.
Connect with other members to collaborate on a session proposalBecause oral presentation sessions (panels) must be submitted as a group, we have created our Panel Matchmaker Forum to help potential session organizers locate panelists beyond their current networks. Interested presenters can also find panels seeking additional members. Check it out here!
Submissions are due December 6! Visit the conference website for full details: https://2025slaconference.org
