Johnson, a language blog from The Economist named for English lexicographer Dr. Samuel Johnson, is using the ASEAN summit in Bali as an occasion to discuss the Balinese language. The November 16th post describes Balinese language levels, as well as pressures the language faces from Indonesian nationalism and the Indonesian language, globalization, and forces of modernity.
While my own knowledge of Balinese is insufficient to allow me to comment seriously on the content of the post, I can say that I found it very interesting.
