The Catalan Sociolinguistics Society, under the aegis of the Institute for Catalan Studies, has announced that the 15th annual Modest Reixach Prize will be awarded to Ignasi Clemente (Department of Anthropology, Hunter College, CUNY), for his book Uncertain Futures; Communication and Culture in Childhood Cancer Treatment (2015, Wiley Blackwell).
The prize is named after Modest Reixach (1931-2011), a pioneer of sociolinguistics in Catalonia. It recognizes a scientifically innovative work of sociolinguistic investigation published in any language by an author resident in or affiliated with universities in the Catalan-speaking countries. Publications on sociolinguistic phenomena in the Catalan-speaking countries published outside the Catalan linguistic domain are also eligible. An honorarium of one thousand euros accompanies the award.
The prize will be awarded by the President of the Catalan Parliament on April 21, 2017.
Warmest congratulations to Ignasi!
